After three straight wins against the Cubs to open their four-game weekened series, the Dodgers fell a win short of the sweep and also took a loss to the Rockies on Tuesday.

Ryan Dempster held the Dodgers to just three hits on Sunday, with the only run coming from a Tony Abreu RBI-single in the second to tie it 1-1. Chad Billingsley had given up a solo homerun in the second, and took the loss after giving up two more runs before leaving after six innings.

The Dodgers had Monday off to rest before a big series with the Rockies, who now trail the Dodgers by only two games in the NL West after their 10th inning win.

Clayton Kershaw put up a quality start for the Dodgers, striking out six in 6 1/3 and making only one mistake, a two-run homerun in the fourth. Belisario gave up a go-ahead solo homerun in the seventh, and Kuo gave up another run in the eighth. The Dodgers tied it with two in the ninth to send it to extras. James McDonald was tagged for the 10th inning loss after giving up a leadoff walk followed by a throwing error by James Loney that allowed the winning run to score.

Andre Ethier put the Dodgers up 1-0 in the first and Casey Blake drove a leadoff solo shot in the fourth. They were then scoreless and down by two heading into the ninth, but rallied to send two runs to touch home. They could’ve gotten more, though, as Russell Martin flied out, leaving the bases loaded and leaving the Dodgers just 2 for 10 with RISP on the night.
