Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

The Dodgers were losing 2-0 going into the bottom of the first, but ended up sending 13 men to the plate, with ten scoring off Rockies starter Mark Redman, to lead the game to a final of 11-3.
The Dodgers rallied in the first, starting off with a Juan Pierre single and then him soon scoring on a sacfly by Matt Kemp. The big hit was a grand slam by Kemp to deep center, which gave him a career high 5 RBI for the inning and night. Blake DeWitt, who was just recalled from Triple A after Nomar was sent back to the DL, went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI. Starter Brad Penny even got in on the hit frenzy, going 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Penny’s only mistake was the two-run shot he gave up to Garrett Atkins in the first. He did give up an RBI single in the sixth, but still went seven strong giving up only four hits. He also had two strikeouts to record his 1,000th of his career. Scott Proctor came in to pitch the final two innings, giving up just one hit.
The Dodgers look to sweep the Rockies today at 1:10pm. Esteban Loaiza will make the start after Hong-Chih Kuo took over his starter position for two games. Loaiza is 1-2 but has only started once this season. The Rockies will start LHP Jeff Francis, who is 0-2 this season but was 3-0 last year against the Dodgers.
