The offense finally got going yesterday to help Derek Lowe get the win over the Padres.
Lowe went eight strong, giving up just one run on four hits with six strikeouts. Lowe also contributed offensively with two hits and three RBIs. Takashi Saito came in to perfectly close out the ninth.
The Padres were up 1-0 going into the bottom of the first, but that would be their only lead of the game. Rafeal Furcal homered off Chris Young’s second pitch in the first inning to start the offense. Andre Ethier went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and was just a triple short of the cycle. Blake DeWitt added two doubles and 2 RBIs. James Loney again continues with his hit streak by going 3 for 3. Andruw Jones went without a hit but scored three runs after two walks and reaching base on an error.
Chad Billingsley will start against the series finale today. He is 4-0 lifetime against the Padres. They will face Greg Maddux who is 1-0 on the season.
