Chad Billinglsey, in his sixth try for his 10th win, took the loss as the Astros beat the Dodgers 8-1 in the second game of the series.
Billingsley didn’t make it out of the second inning, as he gave up four in the first, all with two outs. Miguel Tejada drove a solo homerun and Billingsley gave up four more straight hits to give the Astros a 4-0 lead. He then gave up two more in the second before being pulled for Jeff Weaver. Weaver gave up a solo homerun in the third and another run in the fifth. Elbert and Vargas then combined for three scoreless innings.
Roy Oswalt tossed a complete game for the Astros, holding the Dodgers to one run on four hits while fanning five. Russell Martin knocked in Orlando Hudson in the third, but that was all the offense the Dodgers could muster.
Clayton Kershaw will face Mike Hampton on Saturday. Kershaw is looking to give the Dodgers a win to avoid the series loss, while Hampton 5-6 with a 4.52 ERA, and is 8-7 lifetime against the Dodgers.
