Brad Penny Shuts Down Rockies in Dodgers Shutout Win

by @ 5:03 am. Filed under 2007 Season

Brad Penny and the Dodgers pen held the Rockies to just two hits in a shutout win.  Penny gave up two hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.  Takashi Saito struck out two in a shutout ninth and he picked up his fifth save of the season.

Nomar Garciaparra had two doubles, two RBIs and a run while Luis Gonzalez singled twice.  Juan Pierre singled, scored and stole a base while Jeff Kent singled and scored a run in the 3-0 win.

The Dodgers get a day off today before the Padres roll into town for a big three game series.  Derek Lowe will face David Wells in the series opener and on Saturday we’ll get Jake Peavy against Jason Schmidt in what should be a great pitching matchup.
