The Dodgers escaped with two more wins as they head into Sunday’s final game of the series, looking for the sweep.
Randy Wolf posted another strong win, allowing just one run on one hit through seven while striking out five. The only hit he gave up was a two-out RBI single in the third. Sherrill and Broxton continued the one-hitter, each tossing a shutout inning, with Broxton picking up his 27th save.
Wolf also helped himself out by driving a two-RBI double in the second, which would prove enough for the win. Wolf now has 11 RBI’s on the season, tying a career-high.
The Dodgers were again able to escape with two runs for the win on Saturday. Charlie Haeger picked up his first win as a Dodger, shutting out the Cubs for seven innings while also striking out seven. Broxton and Sherrill continued the shutout, with Sherrill picking up the save.
The Cubs matched the Dodgers with five hits, but the Dodgers were able to score two runs for the win. Matt Kemp drove a solo shot in the second, and Casey Blake did the same with two outs in the fourth.
The Dodgers look to seal the four-game sweep today, with Chad Billingsley taking on Ryan Dempster.
