True, Colletti made a mistake with Schmidt. But the numbers Andruw Jones put up before coming to the Dodgers would prompt any GM to pick him up. You can't blame Colletti for Jones' poor (poor is even too nice a word) performance this season. But I think that trading some of the younger talent for veterans is good to some extent, but after Nomar returns and with Jeff Kent we will still need some young players in the lineup. I would say keep Ethier and Blake DeWitt for the young prospects. A veteran arm in the rotation would also help, we could use a couple as trade bait to get a strong veteran for a few years before our many pitching prospects begin to pop up from the minors.

Dodgers need to fire Ned Colletti. All he has done since coming to the Dodgers is sign players to big contracts and they are either underperforming or injured. 3 yr 48 mil to Schmidt was a HUGE mistake, before it even started. 45 mil to Pierre for 5 years was almost as bad, but at least he hustles and plays everyday. Andruw Jones was the next big mistake after Schmidt, fortunately we only have to put up with him for 1.5 more years. What was he thinking when he put us on the hook for 8 mil/yr for Loaiza off waivers? Angel Berroa has hit worse then .200. When the Royals get rid of you, YOUR DONE.. The Dodgers have too big of a payroll to be playin 6 games under .500. You are going to have to start to trade some of the young players ex.. Kemp and Ethier to get some veteran talent with power. I am so tired of seeing the Dodgers leave men is scoring position. Lastly, trade Colletti.
