The Dodgers came back to score a run in the seventh to beat the Diamondbacks 4-3 on Tuesday to even up the series.
Vicente Padilla gave the Dodgers a decent start, going 5 1/3 innings and giving up just one run while striking out five. Scott Elbert, just called up from Triple-A, relieved Padilla in the sixth, but was only able to record one out while being tagged for two runs. Belisario escaped the inning and tossed the seventh to pick up his third win. Troncoso tossed the eighth and Broxton picked up his 30th save, complete with two strikeouts.
The Dodgers answered the Dbacks’ run in the first with a solo homerun by Matt Kemp, his fourth straight in four days. The Dodgers scored a run each in the second and third, and were tied at 3’s when the Dbacks scored two in the sixth. The Dodgers loaded the bases in the seventh for Andre Ethier, who drew a walk to plate the go-ahead run. Ethier then put up some defense in the eighth, making a leaping catch with a runner at third to end the inning.
Chad Billingsley will make the start on Wednesday and will face Max Scherzer. Billingsley is 1-0 against the Dbacks this season; Scherzer is 8-8 with a 4.26 ERA. Jim Thome is also expected to make his Dodger debut at some point tonight.
