The Dodgers saw slugger Manny Ramirez back in the lineup, and despite him going 0 for 3, the Dodgers went on to beat the Padres 6-3 on Friday.
Hiroki Kuroda picked up the win, giving up three runs on four hits through 5 1/3. He gave up a solo homerun in the fourth and left in the sixth after giving up two more runs. Mota, Troncoso, and Leach all pitched shutout relief work and Broxton pitched a perfect ninth with two K’s for his 20th save while also hitting 103 on the gun.
Five of the Dodgers’ six runs came in a first-inning, two-out. Rafael Furcal led off with a single, his first of four hits on the night. Martin, Ethier, and Loney all drove in runs before Matt Kemp finished the rally with a two-run double. Martin also knocked in a run in the third.
Randy Wolf will take on Josh Geer in Saturday’s day game. Wolf is held with a 3-3 record after 11 no decision, while Geer is 1-3 with a 5.68 ERA.
