Dodgers Beat up Barry Zito

by @ 5:43 am. Filed under 2007 Season

This was a solid pitchers duel until the Dodgers exploded for four runs in the sixth and then three more in the seventh as Barry Zito was chased out of the game.  Randy Wolf evened his record to 1-1 with a nice start.  He gave up a single run on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings of work.  Chad Billingsley was hit hard in two innings of relief though.

The old man, Luis Gonzalez, got it done for the Dodgers.  He homered twice and drove in four runs in a nice game.  Matt Kemp and Wilson Valdez each had three hits and two RBIs.

So after starting 0-2, the Dodgers have now won four straight.  Today is their home opener as the Rockies come into town.  Jason Schmidt will face Jeff Francis in what should be a good pitching matchup this afternoon.
