Dodgers-Cardinals Preview

by @ 8:16 am. Filed under 2008 Dodgers

The Dodgers open a three game series with the Cardinals at home beginning tonight at 7:40.

Tonight’s game will signal the return of Rafael Furcal, who was eligible to be activated from the DL on Wednesday night. Andruw Jones should also be back in the lineup tonight after dealing with a swollen right knee from torn cartilage, which will likely require surgery, possibly before the season ends. Derek Lowe will make the start and look for his third win after coming off his worst outing of the season, giving up seven runs to the Angels for the loss. Lowe is 1-4 lifetime against the Cardinals and has not seen in a win since April 23rd.

The Cardinals, who have been teetering with the Cubs for first place in NL Central, will start Adam Wainwright. He is 3-2 with a 3.25 ERA this season.

There is also rumor that Clayton Kershaw could be brought up to take the fifth starting spot in the rotation, beginning in the next series against the Cubs. Kershaw was yanked in yesterday’s start after facing just three batters, possibly because they want him on full time’s rest to make a start for the Dodgers on Tuesday.
