Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

This is probably the worst possible time to slump. Heading into the break, the Dodgers were in the lead for the Wild Card. Since then, three teams have passed them for the Wild Card and the Dodgers now sit in fourth place in the ever changing NL West.
Aaron Sele was knocked around on Monday, as was reliever Beimel. Three runs usually won’t do the trick either.
Our lone win came on Tuesday. A great start by Chad Billinglsey gave us the edge in this game. He threw seven shutout innings and struck out four. Kenny Lofton had two hits and two runs and Nomar Garciaparra had a triple, a single, a run and an RBI.
Wednesday game was the ugliest. The Dodgers got shut out on six hits and Derek Lowe got knocked around. Yesterday wasn’t too much better as the Dodgers ran into Cy Young candidate Brandon Webb. The Mark Hendrickson deal keeps looking bad because he’s now 0-3.
Next up is a three game set against the Cardinals. Fortunately it’s at home because the Cardinals have been very good in their new park. With the wild card race being so tight, every game is important. And someone has to pick up the slack, because Jeff Kent is on the shelf again.
