Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

Eight straight losses. What a horrible collapse by the Dodgers. While they might have been playing above their heads to move into the top spot in the Wild Card prior to the break, this stretch has really done them in. They now trail nine teams and are 6 1/2 back in the Wild Card, and they’re dead last, 7 1/2 games back, in the NL West. To throw more crap on the shit pile, Nomar Garciaparra is now hurt.
Monday’s loss may have been the most disappointing. The Dodgers came back from three down to tie it in the eighth only to lose it in the eleventh. Andre Ethier was on fire and he went four for four with two homeruns and three RBIs. Carrara took the loss and he dropped to 0-1. Derek Lowe was okay in the start.
Tuesday’s game was close until the Padres opened it up in the ninth inning with three runs. Mark Hendrickson dropped to 0-4, but Danys Baez should get an assist in there because his three run ninth put the game out of reach. Kenny Lofton homered for the first time this season and Rickey Ledee had two hits and a run.
Our ace got knocked around yesterday and Jake Peavy made us look bad to complete the sweep. Penny gave up six runs on nine hits through five innings and he’s now 10-5. Rafael Furcal went three for four with a homerun in the 10-3 loss.
Next up is three games against the Nationals. I’d be relieved, but they’ve been hot but they’re less then two games behind us. Sigh.
