Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

The Dodgers have now lost four straight after losing 5-7 to the Padres last night.
The offense once again couldn’t get to Peavy, scoring just three runs off nine hits in his six innings.
Brad Penny took the loss, giving up four runs off ten hits (all singles) in six innings. Like his last game against Peavy and the Padres, he pitched five scoreless innings, but was rocked in the fourth with six hits and four runs. Joe Beimel also gave up one run off two hits in the seventh. Ramon Troncoso came in the eighth and also gave up two runs on three hits.
The lineup was tweaked yet again, as Torre has yet to use the same starting lineup at all this season. Andruw Jones moved down to bat seventh and still ended up going 0-4. Juan Pierre started in left and batted in the two hole in place of Matt Kemp, who had the night off. Jones went 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Furcal, batting leadoff, went 3 for 3 with three runs scored. Andre Ethier scored the Dodgers first two runs in the first and third with a sac fly and groundout. James Loney extended his hit streak to ten games with a homerun in the sixth. It got interesting in the ninth with Padres closer Hoffman pitching and the bases loaded after already scoring one run off him, but Jeff Kent ended up striking out to end the game to finish 1 for 5 on the night.
The Dodgers will have Derek Lowe look for his first win of the season tonight against Padres’ RHP Chris Young.
