by @ 8:19 am. Filed under 2009 Dodgers

The Dodgers followed a 4-8 loss on Friday with a big 12-1 win Saturday to get back to 5 games up in the West.

Vincente Padilla gave up four runs on eight hits through five innings on Friday, but it was Ramon Troncoso who took the loss, giving up two go-ahead runs in the sixth inning. Chad Billingsley also got some work in out of the bullpen, giving up two runs in the eighth. The offense was highlighted by Manny Ramirez, who went 2 for 4 including a two-run homerun. Rafael Furcal also homered in the fifth inning.

On Saturday, the bats got busy earlier with a five-run first inning, keyed by a grand slam by Ronnie Belliard. Matt Kemp, James Loney, and Blake DeWitt all went yard in later innings, tagging fomer Dodger Brad Penny for seven total runs and chasing him in the third inning. Jon Garland picked up the win for the Dodgers, going eight innings, giving up just one run (though unearned) and striking out three.

Randy Wolf will face Tim Lincecum in Sunday’s rubber match.
