The Dodgers dropped their final game of the series with the Padres and took a loss against the Dbacks Friday night before coming back for an 11-2 win on Saturday to even up the series.
On Thursday, Clayton Kershaw was in line for the win after holding the Padres to one run on two hits with six K’s through five innings. Ronald Belisario then shut out the Padres for two innings. Ohman gave up a run in the eighth and Cory Wade took the loss after giving up two more runs.
Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp each had two hits, with Kemp’s two-RBI single in the sixth putting the Dodgers ahead before the bullpen let it go. Kershaw also helped himself out by going 1 for 2 with a run scored.
The Dodgers headed out to Phoenix on Friday, and James McDonald took the loss after getting rocked for five runs in the third. Ramon Troncoso finished the third and went on through the sixth. Mota also allowed three runs to score in the eighth.
Brad Ausmus knocked in the Dodgers first run in the second. Casey Blake then ripped a two-run homerun in the seventh. Manny Ramirez and Ausmus each had two hits for the night.
The Dodgers’ bats came alive on Saturday to answer back with an 11-2 win over the Dbacks.
Eric Stults made the start, filling in for Hiroki Kuroda, and held the Dbacks to one run on four hits with five K’s for 5 1/3 innings. Belisario, Wade, and Broxton all came out of the ‘pen to finish, with Broxton giving up a run in the ninth.
The Dodgers scored all 11 runs in three innings, beginning with three runs in the fourth. Orlando Hudson started things off in the fourth with a solo homerun. Hudson ended up 2 for 4 with 2 runs and 3 RBI. Russell Martin then got lucky with a two-run double when the ball ripped through third baseman Mark Reynolds’ legs. The Dodgers then had a five-run rally in the sixth, keyed by a two-run double by Ethier. They added three in the eighth on Hudson’s two-run double and Juan Pierre’s RBI-single.
Stults started in place of Kuroda, who was placed on the 15-day DL with a strained oblique. Randy Wolf will get the start in Sunday’s rubber match, and will face Dan Haren.
