Dodgers Held Scoreless in Loss

by @ 3:40 pm. Filed under 2008 Dodgers

The Dodgers lost another to the Cardinals on Saturday, 4-0.

The Dodgers were held to eight hits and couldn’t produce a run in the loss. Juan Pierre, batting leadoff, had three hits and Andre Ethier chipped in two. The Dodgers have been held to just one run in their two games with the Cards, coming off a sacfly on Friday.

Brad Penny held the Cards to four hits, but also allowed four runs to take the loss. All four runs came with two outs in the third. Penny ended up going seven innings with five strikeouts, but the Cardinals’ rally in the third handed him his fifth loss to even his record at .500.

The Dodgers took another loss after Saturday’s game by placing Andruw Jones on the DL. He will undergo surgery to repair the torn cartilage in his right knee, and is expected to miss about a month. Terry Tiffee of Triple-A Las Vegas will be brought up to replace Jones, and Nomar has been moved to the 60-day DL to allow the roster changes, which doesn’t make him eligible to return until at least the end of June.
