May 7, 1988 at Busch Stadium
Cardinals 2, Dodgers 1  (17-9)

The Dodgers four game winning streak came to an end when John Tudor outdueled Tim Leary.  Tudor held the Dodgers’ hitters to just a single run on four hits and the long Dodgers’ run came on a pinch hit RBI single off the bat of Steve Sax in the eighth inning.

Leary threw seven solid frames and for his efforts, he didn’t get the win. He gave up one run on six hits with five strikeouts in seven innings of work.  Jesse Orosco and Jay Howell combined to give up a run in the bottom of the ninth as Orosco took the loss and dropped to 1-1.
