Dodgers Held to One Run in Loss to Rockies

by @ 7:32 pm. Filed under 2008 Dodgers

The Dodgers took their second consecutive loss to the Rockies, 1-2, to lose the series as well as 10 of their last 13.

The Dodgers were held to one run on six hits. The bats couldn’t get going against Rockies starter Aaron Cook, who only allowed one ball to leave the infield through six of his eight innings. The Dodgers were already down by 2 when they put up a run in the sixth when Chin-lung Hu singled and scored off Matt Kemp’s RBI-single. The 2-3-4-5 hitters went a combined 2 for 14 with 4 K’s.

Clayton Kershaw finally earned his first major league decision, but it came with a loss. Kershaw pitched on this day before the First-Year Player Draft after he was taken seventh overall in 2006. Kershaw gave up just two runs and had 5 K’s in five innings, but again a lack of run support tagged him for the loss. Kershaw is still expected to stay in the rotation to pitch on Tuesday in San Diego. Chan Ho Park then pitched a scoreless 6th, 7th, and 8th, striking out his first four batters and ended his 3 innings with 6 K’s. Joe Beimel and Jonathan Broxton then split the ninth.

The Dodgers entered this series facing the Rockies who had a seven-game losing streak and extended it to eight before giving them a two-game win streak, thanks to only scoring one run in their two losses. They also stand 3 games under .500, but have managed to stay steady at 3 1/2 games behind the Dbacks.
