Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

I can see the Dodgers playing like this all year. A three game losing streak here, a three game winning streak there, then some stretches where they win some and lose some. The end result will be a winning percentage right around what they have now.
The Dodgers got some good pitching in their two wins this weekend. Jae Seo looks like he’s figured out whatever was wrong with him because he pitched a gem in the series opener. He pitched six two hit innings and struck out four. Tim Hamaluck, Takashi Saito and Danys Baez each threw a no hit inning to finish things out. J.D. Drew had a two run single and Dioneer Navarro drove in a run in the 3-0 win.
The solid pitching continued on Saturday. Bret Tomko gave up two runs on five hits with two strikeouts in seven innings. Saito reduced his ERA down even more to 0.69 with a shutout eighth and Baez picked up his eighth save of the season with a perfect ninth inning. Nomar Garciaperra had a two run homerun and Rafael Furcal scored twice.
The Padres needed ten innings, but they avoided the sweep yesterday and man was this a tough one. The Dodgers took a five run lead into the bottom of the ninth and that’s exactly what the Padres scored. Danys Baez no longer has that perfect ERA because he gave up two of those runs and blew his second save of the season. Four of those runs were driven in without hits. Two were walked in and two scored on sac. flies. Then in the bottom of the tenth, Hamuluck walked two and and then gave up an RBI single to Mark Bellhorn to end the game.
Bill Mueller homered and drove in two runs in the 6-5 loss. Nomar went two for three with two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base.
The Dodgers travel to Phoenix this week for a short two game set with the Diamondbacks. Right now, we’re tied with them with a 12-13 record so hopefully we can head home in sole possession of third place.
