Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past
[powered by WordPress.]
The Dodgers take on the Cubs for the final game of the series today at 5:05. They look to get a win after losing four of their last five and to avoid being swept by the Cubs, with the last time the Dodgers were swept by them at Wrigley in May 2001.
Derek Lowe will get the nod and go for his third win, which would be his first since April 23. He will face Carlos Zambrano, who stands at 7-1 on the seaon. Zambrano does more than pitch effectively, though, as he leads all NL pitchers with 11 hits, 4 RBI and 4 runs scored.
Jeff Kent is still nursing a sore back and may miss today’s finale.
The date of return for Jason Schmidt is inching closer and closer. He threw on Monday for Class A Inland Empire, throwing 45 pitches and topping out at 91 MPH. Torre has reported that Schmidt may not be back to 100% health until next season, but is still looking to rejoin the team sometime in early June.
