Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

The Dodgers dropped their last of the Freeway Series at Angel Stadium by a score of 10-2.
The offense was held to seven hits and two runs and struck out eleven times. The two runs came in the fourth after already being down 4-0 when Jeff Kent had a 2-RBI single to score Juan Pierre and Russell Martin.
Derek Lowe, pitching on three days rest, could only endure five innings, giving up seven runs on ten hits. The Angel offense exploded in the second for four runs. One run came after Gary Bennet overthrew a ball and then after a James Loney throwing error, and the following three runs came off a Mike Napoli homerun. This gives Lowe his fourth loss; he is winless since April 23. Scott Proctor and Yhency Brazoban came out of the pen, with Proctor giving up a solo homerun and Brazoban yielding two runs.
The Dodgers remain in LA but return to Dodger Stadium to host the Reds tonight for a three-game series, and hope to snap the four-game losing streak they currently hold at home. Brad Penny, who was pushed back from yesterday’s start due to arm stiffness, will start today. Penny is 5-4 on the season, 7-2 lifetime against the Reds, winning his last five starts against them. The Dodgers will face Bronson Arroyo, who is 2-4 with a 6.08 ERA.
