It was the same 5-4 score, but a different outcome as the A’s came out on top for the win.
Hiroki Kuroda remains winless since Opening Day, spreading five earned runs over six innings for his second loss of the season.
The Dodgers were able to capitalize on three A’s errors, but they only managed one earned run on the night. Cahill shut out the Dodgers until the fifth, despite having the bases loaded in the first, when Orlando Hudson drove an RBI-single. The Dodgers also scored three more in the sixth and seventh innings off errors. The leadoff man got on in the ninth inning but Andrew Bailey got three out in a row to end the threat.
Randy Wolf will take the mound in Thursday’s rubber match and will face Vin Mazzaro. Wolf remains winless in seven starts at home this season (though only one loss), while Mazzaro is 2-1 with a 1.37 ERA.
