Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past
[powered by WordPress.]
So far, the Dodgers haven’t done too much since signing on Joe Torre to take over as manager. They’ve made an offer to Hiroki Kuroda but it looks like they’ve pulled away from the Johan Santana sweepstakes. In order to fill in the gap of news here before the Winter Meetings, Ken Gurnick answered reader’s questions in a mailbag column. He talks about everything from the chances of the Dodgers having their own television network to who the Dodgers might lose in the Rule 5 draft.

There is no reason the Dodgers should be in the Santana sweepstakes, since they are not badly in need of pitching, It makes sence to go after Cabrera, if they don’t lose to many front line players. It looks like Kemp could be the sacrificial lamb and if they do lose him that way they should pick up Jones while they’re at it. Of course they can stay clear of both messes, if they go the homegrown route and have faith in their youth that they already have and stop picking up used experience players along the way.
