The Dodgers lost their first of a two-game series to the Padres, 1-3, and still sit with their Magic Number at 1 as the Rockies won in extra innings last night.
Chad Billingsley held the Padres to two runs on two hits, but also issued five walks in the loss. Hong-Chih Kuo also gave up a run in the seventh put the Dodgers down by two runs.
The Dodgers were held to four hits and went 0 for 6 for RISP. The only run scored by the Dodgers was in the seventh to avoid the shutout when Orlando Hudson tripled and scored when Andre Ethier got out.
The Dodgers have a chance to seal the West before a day off and then a weekend series with the Rockies. Jon Garland will face Clayton Richard.
