Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past
[powered by WordPress.]
The Dodgers got some good pitching and they needed it because the bats didn’t do much for them. Bret Tomko threw six shutout innings but he left without a decision because Chad Billingsley gave up the tying run in the seventh. Then in the bottom of the eighth, Russ Martin drove in a run with sac. fly for the game winner. Joe Beimel picked up the win and Takashi Saito struck out two in the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season.
Nomar Garciaparra singled home the other run in the first inning in the 2-1 win. The six Dodgers hits were racked up by just three players as Nomar, Martin and Juan Pierre all had two hits a piece.
The Dodgers can pick up the series win tonight in the third and final game of the series. Brad Penny gets the start for the Dodgers.
