The Dodgers beat Dan Haren and the Dbacks tonight, 8-3.
The offense handed Haren his first loss of the season by scoring 6 runs on 9 hits off him. They added 2 more runs in the 8th off Yusmeiro Petit. The offense rallied to take the lead in the first and never looked back, ending with a total of 13 hits. James Loney and Chin-lung Hu both had two hits and two RBIs. Matt Kemp also added two hits with one double. Andre Ethier, playing left, was 2 for 4 with three runs scored. The birthday boy Andruw Jones added one hit while batting in the two hole. Interesting to note: all 8 runs scored tonight came with 2 outs.
Derek Lowe had to leave after the fifth due to elbow soreness, but only giving up one run on three hits was enough to earn him the win. This moves his record to 2-1 with an impressive 2.45 ERA. Park, Beimel, and Broxton all came out to relief before Saito closed in out in the ninth for his second save of the season.
This moves the Dodgers into a second-place NL West tie with the Rockies, who both stand 6 games behind the Dbacks in first.
