Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past
[powered by WordPress.]
At least the Dodgers have some nice momentum heading into their NLDS against the New York Mets. Their head to head record against the Padres cost them home field but at least they’re in the dance. It looked very spotty last week but the Dodgers pulled it out and in winning fashion no less.
The Dodgers scored four runs in each of the three wins over the Giants, which goes to show you that they got some good pitching. On Friday, the Dodgers were down until the ninth when Olmedo Saenz and Russ Martin had RBI singles to give the Dodgers a 4-3 win. Hong Chih Kuo pitched five solid innings and Jon Broxton picked up the win despite getting only one batter out. Takashi Saito picked up the save.
Yesterday, the Dodgers doubled up the Giants 4-2. Greg Maddux picked up his 15th win and both Julio Lugo and J.D. Drew drove in two runs in the win. Kenny Lofton went three for five with two runs to help out.
Today the Dodgers won but they didn’t need it. Eric Stults got the start as the Dodgers seemed to put their B team out on the field. Chad Billingsley got the win with an inning of relief. Ramon Martinez drove in two runs and Toby Hall had two hits in the 4-3 win.
Next up is the Mets in the playoffs. The Dodgers and Mets are the odd series out and they won’t start up until Wednesday. Good luck Dodgers.
