Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past
[powered by WordPress.]
The Dodgers made their first big splash of the offseason when they signed slugging centerfielder Andruw Jones to a two year, $36 million deal. The shorter term deal is probably a win/win for both Jones and the Dodgers because we’ll get to see whether Jones’ poor 2007 season was a fluke or not.
This makes Juan Pierre expendable although initial reports have him moving to left field. Regardless, Jones is a huge upgrade over Pierre and this should give the Dodgers a bit more punch in their lineup.
Also, be sure to check out this cool interview of Ned Colletti. There’s some solid optimism in the column and when combined with this move for Jones, it’s making me fired up to get the 2008 season started.
