Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

Chad Billingsley pitched the Dodgers to the win as they beat the Cards 7-3 to get their first win at home in five games.
Billingsley’s skipped start in the last rotation proved nothing to his performance this game, going six innings, giving up just two runs on three hits to pick up his 12th win. He shut out the Cards until giving up two in the sixth. James McDonald was tagged for one in the seventh and Broxton tossed 1 1/3 innings for his 26th save.
Mitchell Boggs kept the Dodgers scoreless until the fourth, when the Dodgers pounded four straight hits for two runs, including an RBI by Billingsley. The Dodgers followed suit in the fifth with four straight hits again, led off by a triple by Andre Ethier, who ended up just a homerun short of the cycle by the night’s end. Ethier, Orlando Hudson, and Russell Martin all had multi-hit games for the Dodgers.
Clayton Kershaw looks to seal the win in Wednesday’s rubber match. He will face Adam Wainwright, who has posted Cy Young-like numbers this season, with a 14-7 record and 2.62 ERA.
