The Dodgers followed up Friday’s 6-5 win with a 6-5 win on Saturday, but couldn’t get the sweep when the lost 4-10 on Sunday.
James McDonald picked up his first big-league win on Saturday, going five innings and giving up five runs. Ramon Troncoso held the Rockies scoreless for a four-inning shutout save. The offense jumped out for four runs in the first, led by Russell Martin’s two-run single, two of his four RBIs on the night.
Clayton Kershaw couldn’t connect for the sweep on Sunday, taking his first loss after being tagged for nine runs. He gave up four in the third, including a two-run homerun. He then was tagged for all five Rockies’ runs in the fifth, though he left with the bases loaded and two outs.
Marquis held the Dodgers scoreless until the sixth when they scored two. Loney led the offense, going 3 for 5 with 3 RBI. Juan Pierre and Andre Ethier also had multi-hit games.
The Dodgers continue their road trip to San Francisco, with Randy Wolf taking on Barry Zito on Monday night. Wolf is looking for his second win and Zito is a winless 0-2, despite shuting out the Padres through seven in his last outing.
