Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

The Dodgers lost today, 8-1, to split the series in Cincinnati.
Starter Hong-Chih Kuo was roughed up for 5 runs on 8 hits and didn’t make it out of the fourth inning to give him his first loss of the season. Scott Proctor finished the fourth before Esteban Loaiza came in to pitch three innings while giving up two more runs. Jonathan Broxton also came out the pen for the eighth and gave up one run.
The offense seemed to repeat the trend that they had going in Atlanta all weekend-only scoring one run for the losses. For starters, Andruw Jones was out of the lineup, supposedly because of bad allergies and feeling under the weather. Hopefully this day off will help that along with his slump of a .159 average. The box score doesn’t show much for the offense: just five hits and one run, which is overshadowed by the Reds’ 15 hits and 8 runs.. Rafael Furcal had two of those hits and the RBI in the third to take a 1-0 lead, but the Reds tied it in the bottom of the inning before rallying in the fourth to steal the lead for good.
The loss puts the Dodgers at 1-4 for the road trip. The offense could only produce one run in each loss while going just 2 for 29 with RISP in those losses. The Dodgers will return to LA with an 8-12 record and tying last place position in the NL West.
