The Dodgers finished off their three-game sweep of the Mets with a 2-1 win on Wednesday night.
Jeff Weaver started and held the Mets to one run through five. He left with a 1-1 tie, and Ramon Troncoso shut out the Mets for the 6th and 7th innings. Belisario started the eighth, and Leach finished it to pick up his first big-league win. Broxton closed out the ninth for his 11th save.
The Dodgers got on board first again, courtesy of a sac fly by Andre Ethier. Livan Hernandez then held the Dodgers scoreless until he left the game after seven and Russell Martin ripped a go-ahead RBI-single in the eighth to break an 0-for-11 skid.
This weekend marks the first of the Interleague Series for Major League Baseball, and the Dodgers host in the Angels in the first Freeway Series of ’09. Clayon Kershaw will take on Jered Weaver on Friday night, with Kershaw looking to stay solid at home, where he has a 0.95 ERA. Weaver is 3-2 this year, and is 3-1 lifetime against the Dodgers.
