The Dodgers got a three game sweep of the Rockies at home, including a 14-2 pounding on Sunday to notch their eighth straight win.
Randy Wolf had a rocky first inning on Friday, allowing the Rockies to get a quick 3-0 lead. For the next five innings, though, he allowed just one hit and picked up a no-decision. Mota got the win, pitching the seventh, and Broxton earned his fourth save, striking out four in 1 2/3 innings.
The Dodgers were blanked for six innings until a four-run seventh propelled them to the win, including Mark Loretta’s go-ahead RBI-single.
Chad Billingsley picked up the win on Saturday, shutting out the Rockies through five until giving up three runs in the sixth. Manny Ramirez and Andre Ethier led the offense, each with two homeruns. Ethier’s second one was a lead-off solo shot in the seventh that triggered a four-run inning.
James McDonald was moved out the bullpen to make the start Sunday, holding the Rockies scoreless through 4 1/3. Elbert, just called up from Double A, picked up the win despite giving up two runs in the sixth.
Matt Kemp led the offense in this one with two homeruns, including a grand slam in the fifth. Furcal, Hudson, Manny, Ethier, Martin, and Casey Blake all had multi-hit games.
The Dodgers have Monday off before heading to Houston for a three-game series with the Astros.
