Dodgers Sweep Rockies

by @ 10:08 am. Filed under 2009 Dodgers

The Dodgers beat the Rockies 8-6 on Wednesday for a three-game sweep and their eighth win in their last ten.

Clayton Kershaw evens his record at .500 with his third win of the season. He went six innings, giving up three runs on four hits, with his only real mistake coming in the fourth with a two-run homerun. The Rockies attempted a come-from-behind rally in the ninth, scoring one run apiece off of Belisario, Ohman, and Broxton.

James Loney led the offense, going 2 for 5 with four RBI. He drove in the Dodgers first run in the first, and later a three-run double in the seventh. Juan Pierre also continues his hot streak, going 3 for 5 with two RBI and keeps his average at .404. Orlando Hudson also had a hit and a run to extend his hit streak to 17 games.

The Dodgers head off to Chicago for four-game series with the Cubs, who have won their last two games after having an eight-game losing streak. Randy Wolf will take on Randy Wells in Thursday’s opener.

Manny Update: Eligible to play in a Dodger uniform on July 3rd, it appears that Manny may be seeing some time in the minors to warm-up before coming up with the Dodgers. The club seems to be set with his replacement, though, with Juan Pierre batting .410 since Manny’s departure. Manny is also currently the fourth leader for NL outfields for the All-Star ballot, and debate flew all over the sports world yesterday as to if Manny should play or if fans should even be voting for him.
