Back-up catch Brad Ausmus drove in the winning run in the ninth as the Dodgers beat the Rockies in their first game of the series.
Eric Stults had a decent outing, spreading out three runs and seven hits through five. He left with a 3-3 tie, and Ronald Belisario held the Rockies to three runs in his two hitless innings. Hong-Chih Kuo, in his first outing in over a week, gave up two in the eighth but ended up getting the win. Broxton also picked up his sixth save, including two K’s in the ninth.
The Dodgers jumped out for a quick 2-0 lead in the first, including an RBI-single by Manny. Ethier drove in a run in the fifth to tie it before scoring two in the eighth, including an RBI-single by Mark Loretta. Brad Ausmus then drove in the winning run in the ninth with a single.
The Dodgers look to make it three straight today, with James McDonald facing Ubaldo Jimenez, who gave up seven runs in 4 1/3 innings in his start against the Dodgers this season.
