Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

All the Dodgers would need was one run on Wednesday night to beat the Diamondbacks in the rubber match of the three-game series for their fourth shutout of the year.
Chad Billingsley had one of his best outings of the season, shutting out the Dbacks through six while allowing just four hits and striking out nine. After the Dodgers put up a run in the bottom of the sixth, Belisario and Troncoso each tossed a shutout inning before Broxton closed it out for the save.
James Loney and Casey Blake carried the offense again, with Loney drilling a leadoff triple in the sixth and scoring in Blake’s sacrifice fly. Jon Garland had held the Dodgers to just three hits in the previous five innings.
The Dodgers open a four-game series tonight with the defending world champion Phillies. Clayton Kershaw will take the mound and face Cole Hamels. Kershaw looks to put the Phillies’ six-game win streak to a halt, with Hamels coming off his worst outing of the season–a six-run, six-inning loss to the Nationals.
