The Dodgers beat the Reds today in Cincinnati in the first of a short two game series.
Brad Penny got the win after throwing six strong innings, giving up one run on six hits with four strikeouts. He moves to a 7-2 record against the Reds, with a perfect 5-0 while pitching at the Great American Ball Park. Chan Ho Park pitched the remaining three innings, and still earned the save after giving up two runs off homers in the seventh and ninth innings.
The offense exploded for a total of 15 hits and 9 runs. Nomar, batting in the three slot, belted his first homer of the season, and ended up with 3 RBI for the night. James Loney also had a 3-RBI night. Rafael Furcal homered and went 2 for 5. Even Penny got in on the offensive action with a single and sacrifice. Andruw Jones was moved down to bat eighth and ended up 0 for 4 with a strikeout.
It took the Dodgers just two innings to equal their run total from the entire weekend in Atlanta (3).
