Baseball America put out their list of Dodgers top ten prospects and there’s little surprise that left handed starter Clayton Kershaw tops the list. The left handed pitcher dominated the Midwest League and then he was just as solid in Double A. Kershaw will probably spend some time back at Double A but it wouldn’t surprise me if we see Kershaw with the Dodgers at some point in 2008.
Andy LaRoche comes in at number two and while the third baseman appears ready, you wonder how confident the team is in him. It’ll be interesting to see how Joe Torre handles this youngster.
Breakout minor leaguer Chin-Lung Hu comes in at number three and he’s another go who appears major league ready although for now, he’s blocked by Rafael Furcal. I’d still like to see Hu get some big league at bats, whether he’s a starter or not with the Dodgers.
Scott Elbert and Blade DeWitt round out the top five. Chris Withrow, the team’s first round pick this past June, comes in at number six and he should start the season with the Loons.
