The Dodgers beat the Dbacks in the first game of the set 7-2.
Padilla put up a quality start for the win, holding the Dbacks to two runs through six innings. His only mistake was a two-run homerun to Chris Young in the fifth. Belisario, Sherrill, and Broxton then all came out of the ‘pen, with Broxton striking out two in a four-out save for his 33rd of the year.
Manny Ramirez led off the Dodgers three-run second inning with a leadoff solo shot. Loney came up next and followed suit for back-to-back jacks to put the Dodgers up 2-0. Martin drove in the third run of the inning, and Ronnie Belliard hit his second homer as a Dodger in the fourth. Juan Pierre later came in for Manny and drove in a run and went 2 for 3.
Chad Billingsley will take on Billy Buckner in Game 2 of the series. Billingsley collapsed after tossing five perfect innings in his last start; he is 7-5 lifetime against Arizona. Recent call-up Buckner took a loss to the Dodgers last week.
