Clayton Kershaw evened his record at 5-5 while the Dodgers beat the Mariners, 8-2, in the first game of the series.
Kershaw pitched a perfect first three innings before giving up a run in the fourth. He gave up another in the sixth and left with a 7-2 lead after six, tallying eight K’s for the night. Mota tossed two perfect innings out of the ‘pen and Belisario relieved the ninth.
The offense was almost a one-man show, with Andre Ethier belting three homeruns, accouting for six of the Dodgers eight runs. This was Ethier’s fifth multi-homerun game this season, good enough for first in both leagues. He blasted a three-run shot in the second to put the Dodgers on board, another two-run shot in the sixth and a solo shot in the eighth. Casey Blake also went yard with a solo homerun in the fourth.
Eric Milton will make the start on Saturday and face Felix Hernandez. Milton is coming off the DL after three weeks to make the start and Hernandez is 7-3 with a 2.74 ERA.
