Ethier Goes Yard for Walk-Off Win

by @ 6:39 am. Filed under 2009 Dodgers

The Dodgers won in 13 innings of Tuesday, 5-4, for their 12th walk-off win of the season to move five games up in the West.

Randy Wolf posted a quality start, and still remains unbeaten with the no decision in his last six games. He gave up three runs on five hits, with his only mistake coming in the second by giving up a two-run homerun. He left in line for the loss, but the offense sent it to extras to spare him. Broxton tossed a perfect ninth with three K’s, and James McDonald game out for three shutout innings, with three strikeouts. Belisario picked up the win after giving up an unearned run in the top of the 13th before the Dodgers came back for two.

Zach Duke dominated the Dodgers in his 7 1/3 innings, holding the Dodgers to two runs on four hits while fanning seven. Matt Kemp plated a run in the ninth to send the game to extras, and Ethier played hero once again for his sixth walk-off hit of the season with a two-run shot with one out in the bottom of the 13th.

Hiroki Kuroda looks to give the Dodgers a sweep today and will face Kevin Hart. Kuroda was solid in his last outing, his first since coming off the DL. Hart is 4-6 this year but 1-5 with a 6.46 ERA since being trade to the Pirates at the deadline.
