by @ 3:36 am. Filed under 1988 Dodgers, 1988 Dodgers Diary - May

May 17, 1988 at Dodger Stadium
Expos 6, Dodgers 5  (21-13)

Fernando Valenzuela had one of his roughest starts of the season and while the hitters kept them in the ball game, the early damage was too much for the Dodgers to finish a comeback.  Valenzuela dropped to 3-4 and he gave up six runs on ten hits and six walks with four strikeouts in seven innings.

John Shelby went two for three with a double and two RBIs.  Kirk Gibson went two for four with a triple, a homer and two runs.
