Following the Dodgers and Exploring The Team’s Past

Eric Stults and Claudio Vargas gave up a combined eight runs as the Brewers went on to beat the Dodgers 12-8.
Eric Stults had a scoreless first but was pulled in the third after being tagged for four runs. It was Claudio Vargas who took the loss, though, being pulled in the fourth after surrendering four more runs. Mazone came in to finish the fourth and gave up a run. Josh Lindblom pitched the next three, giving up two runs on three hits.
The Dodgers nearly matched the Brewers’ 13 hits with 12, with Orlando Hudson, Andre Ethier, and Juan Pierre all having multi-hit games. Ethier went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. Manny, playing left, also went 1 for 2 but left the bases loaded in the fourth when he struck out.
The Dodgers take on the Rockies Thursday, but traveling to Tuscon likely means a rest for the regulars. James McDonald will get the start, and after Stults’ and Vargas’ performances on Wednesday, he may be one step closer to sealing the fifth starter role.
