Garland Gets Win in Blue Debut

by @ 11:49 am. Filed under 2009 Dodgers

Jon Garland gave the Dodgers a win on Thursday to give them a series split with the Dbacks.

Garland held his former team to two runs, going seven innings and striking out six. He retired the last 14 batters he faced, and Sherrill and Broxton each tossed an inning, with Broxton getting the save.

Garland got help from Ronnie Belliard and Manny at the plate. Belliard went 2 for 3 and drove in a run in the second, fourth, and sixth innings. Manny also blasted a leadoff solo homerun in the fourth.

The Dodgers now host the Padres for a weekend series, with Clayton Kershaw set to face Wade LeBlanc on Friday. Kershaw is coming off an 11-strikeout no-decision against the Reds, while LeBlanc is 0-1 in three starts this year.
