Garland Looks to Tie Series with Win

by @ 12:40 pm. Filed under 2009 Dodgers

The Dodgers fell to the Dbacks on Wednesday 1-4 as Jon Garland will take the mound on Thursday in his Dodger debut, facing his former team.

Chad Billingsley tossed four perfect innings before being tagged for four runs in the fifth inning, including a two-run homerun. He escaped the inning, being tagged for three earned, and left after six and ended up taking the loss. Elbert and McDonald tossed an inning before Hager also came out of the ‘pen for an inning, moving from the rotation to the reliever’s role.

Max Scherzer held the Dodgers scoreless through seven, with the only run coming off a Manny Ramirez two-out RBI-single in the eighth to plate Juan Pierre.

Garland will face Billy Buckner tonight, looking to avoid a series loss for the Dodgers. Buckner has bounced back and fourth from Triple A this season, making seven big league starts with the Dbacks this year.
