by @ 10:12 am. Filed under 2009 Dodgers

It was a match up of first place teams, and the Phillies came out on top as they beat the Dodgers 3-0 in the first game of the set.

Clayton Kershaw took the loss, though he held the Phillies to two runs on four hits with five K’s through 5 1/3 innings. Four relievers then got work out of the bullpen, with Cory Wade giving up the Phillies third run.

Cole Hamels was lights-out for the Phillies, tossing a complete game shutout with no walks and striking out five. He scattered just five hits throughout the nine frames.

Eric Milton will get the start tonight and will face veteran Jamie Moyer. Milton is 2-0 and Moyer is 4-5 and is coming off his best outing of the season, a one-run, six-inning outing for his 250th career win against the Nationals.
