Dodgers 9, Reds 6 (42-29)
The Dodgers finished up their sweep over the Reds and won for the eighth time in the last nine games behind some nice hitting. In all, the Dodgers picked up fifteen hits and drew seven walks in a game that was a lot closer then it should have been. John Shelby went three for five and he drove in three while Steve Sax drove in three runs with a bases clearing pinch hit double. Kirk Gibson pitched in and he went three for five with a double and two runs.
Tim Belcher improved to 5-4 despite being the most ineffective of the four Dodgers pitchers used. He gave up three runs on two hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings. Brian Holton struck out one in a perfect ninth and he picked up his first save of the season.
