Kershaw, Dodgers Fall to A’s

by @ 6:04 am. Filed under 2009 Dodgers

Clayton Kershaw ran into trouble in the first two innings, giving up three in the first and four in the second. Six of the seven runs were earned, and he tossed two scoreless after that before leaving after the fourth. Broxton and Mota then each tossed a scoreless inning, with Mota’s a perfect 1-2-3-, before Troncoso pitched the seventh, giving up two runs on four hits.

The Dodgers matched the A’s in the first with three runs, but Brett Anderson shut them down for the next five innings. Matt Kemp totaled three RBIs, and Furcal and Loney each had two hits.

In a bit of a slump with four straight losses, the Dodgers head to Tuscon to take on the Dbacks, with James McDonald taking the mound.

The Dodgers have also signed lefty reliever Will Ohman to a minor-league deal, but he can opt out if the club doesn’t call him up by April 14. The Dodgers will need Ohman in their still weak bullpen, and it appears that Threets, Mazone, or Elbert will take his place in the bullpen until he can be called up. It also appears that Jeff Weaver will make the roster as a long reliever.
