Hiroki Kuroda was one out away from a complete game in the Dodgers’ 5-2 win over the White Sox. He gave up a solo shot in the second, but the Dodgers had already given him a 3-0 cushion by then. Kuroda gave up just one other hit besides the homerun until the ninth. He left after giving up another run and totaled nine K’s on the night. Jonathan Broxton struck out the last batter for his one-out 18th save.
The Dodgers jumped out for a run in the first and James Loney made it 3-0 with a two-run jack in the second. John Danks held the Dodgers scoreless until he left after seven. Casey Blake also chipped in with two RBI and Mitch Jones had two hits and a run at the DH nine-hole.
Randy Wolf will make the start in the second game of the series and will face Gavin Floyd. Wolf still holds a 3-2 record, courtesy of 10 no decisions this season. Floyd is 4-5 but has a 1.58 ERA in his last six outings.
